Parisâs Musée des Arts Décoratifs has selected filmmaker Sofia Coppola as Artistic Director for its inaugural Bal dâÃté, set to take place on July 6, 2025.
The ball will set the stage for the ensuing Paris Haute Couture week, bringing together the worlds of fashion, design and art. Jean-Victor Meyers, president of the galaâs Honorary Committee, describes the director as âthe natural choice â an artist who effortlessly blends fashion, music, cinema, art and design into immersive worlds.â
An Academy Award winner, Coppola is known for her elegant and feminine aesthetic eye, portrayed in her films such as âPriscillaâ and âMarie Antoinette.â She is also no stranger to French design and style, calling Paris her âbeloved second home.â
The ball will not only be a fundraising opportunity for the museum to support ongoing projects, but will also celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts.
