A key member of the Florida Panthers franchise took his turn with Lord Stanley’s Cup this week.
Former goaltender and current special advisor Roberto Luongo brought the Stanley Cup back to his hometown of Saint-Leonard, Quebec, just outside of Montreal, on Wednesday.

Luongo’s day included a visit to Arena Roberto-Luongo, the local rink named after the Hall of Fame goaltender.
It was there Luongo shared the cup with some local fans, took photos and signed autographs.
He also joined family members and locals in a friendly game of hockey, suiting up in his goalie gear along with his son, Gianni, who manned the opposite goal crease.
Then Luongo also did something that during his special day, according to Keeper of the Cup Phil Pritchard, may have never been done before.
Luongo and his family enjoyed a giant bowl of gnocchi poutine out of the Cup, which seems as Canadian as you can get.
Luongo retired in 2019 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2022.
He’s become an integral part of Florida’s front office, particularly with the team’s Goaltending Excellence Department.
