The Philadelphia 76ers will look to move on quickly from a tough 2024-25 season. The fastest way to do so is already begin planning for next season.
The NBA announced on Thursday morning that the Sixers will take on the New York Knicks in the preseason in the Abu Dhabi games. The games will take place on Oct. 2 and Oct. 4 Etihad Arena on Yas Island.
This will be the first time the Sixers will play internationally since the 2018 preseason when they faced the Dallas Mavericks in China. Sixers star Joel Embiid played in Abu Dhabi while a member of Team USA in the 2024 Olympics.
In a statement via an official press release from the NBA, Sixers governor Josh Harris stated:
“Bringing the Philadelphia 76ers to Abu Dhabi is an incredible opportunity to connect with new fans in a dynamic and growing region. As an organization, we’re committed to creating unforgettable experiences for our fans throughout the world. We’re proud to be part of the NBA’s efforts to grow the game internationally and look forward to representing the city of Philadelphia while engaging with the vibrant community in the UAE.”
