Most Affordable 7 Seat Mahindra XUV700 MX Base Variant: First Walkaround Video

Mahindra recently introduced a 7-seater version for the entry-level MX variant of the popular SUV XUV700. The SUV is priced at Rs 14.49 lakh, ex-showroom for petrol, and Rs 14.99 lakh, ex-showroom for the diesel variant. The SUV’s production has started, and it has already started reaching dealerships. Here we have a video that gives us a detailed walkaround of the newly introduced MX 7-seater variant.

The video has been shared by XploreWithVarun on his YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger shows the exterior and interior of the SUV along with the features. He starts with the front. As this is the base variant, the XUV700 doesn’t come with a lot of features. The SUV gets a gloss black front grille with brushed aluminum vertical slats. The headlamps are halogen, and there are no dual-function LED DRLs and fog lamps.

There is a provision for fog lamps, and the customer can opt for them as an accessory from the dealership. Coming to the side profile, the SUV gets steel rims with wheel caps. The 5-seater MX variant was missing the wheel caps. Mahindra has now included them in the updated version. The ORVMs are finished in gloss black, and they come with integrated turn indicators. Not only that, the ORVMs can be adjusted electrically.

The flush-fitting door handles can be seen here, and the car is offered with a central locking system and a flip key too. We do not see any roof rails on this base variant XUV700. As we move to the rear, we see XUV700 branding on the tailgate. There is no MX branding on the tailgate. The car does not offer a rear defogger, wiper, and washer. There is an integrated roof-mounted spoiler with a stop lamp integrated into it.

The vlogger then opens the boot to show the space. The major difference here is the third-row seats. With all three rows up, there is not enough space in the boot for luggage. However, if you fold them down, there is a lot of space. The car comes with split second-row seats with a recline function and a center armrest.

The armrest and the recline function were missing in the 5-seater version. The seats are wrapped in fabric, and the cabin is finished in dual-tone. The cabin feels fairly spacious, and the car gets features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an analog instrument cluster with a color MID, manual AC, and so on.

The XUV700 MX variant is not completely stripped down when it comes to features, and that makes it a value-for-money product in this segment. Mahindra offers the XUV700 MX variant in both petrol and diesel engine options. Both these engine options are offered with a manual gearbox only. For automatic versions, you will have to go for more expensive AX variants.

The petrol version of the XUV700 uses a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged mStallion engine. The diesel version of the XUV700 uses a 2.2-liter mHawk turbocharged engine. The diesel engine generates less power and torque in the lower variants when compared to the higher AX models.

Mahindra recently launched the updated XUV 3XO. A detailed first-drive review of the same is available on our website. Similarly, Mahindra is gearing up for the launch of the Thar 5-door too.
