As the demand for electric cars is going up in the country, every legacy automaker is rushing their development of new EV cars. Of these, one brand is Mahindra Automotive. The company has been working on the development of multiple electric SUVs, which will be launched under the brand names of BE and XUV in the country. Recently, a few new detailed spy shots of the upcoming flagship electric SUV from the brand—the Mahindra XUV.e9—have been shared online. The XUV.e9 will sit on the top of the lineup of the XUV range and will be a coupe-styled version of the XUV.e8 SUV.
The spy shots of the Mahindra XUV.e9 have been shared online by Team BHP. This particular test mule was seen at a third-party charging station in Bangalore, Karnataka. From the images, we can note that the entire car has been covered in blue, black, and white graphic camouflage. However, despite it being fully covered, we can note a number of details about this massive electric SUV.
Mahindra XUV.e9 Design Details
From the front, it can be noted that it will get a strong and imposing front-end design. It will be similar to that of the XUV.e8, which is the electric version of the outgoing XUV700. This particular model, the XUV.e9, will come with a unique coupe-style rear end which makes it look a lot more premium. Currently, the BMW X6 and X4M, along with the Mercedes Benz GLE and GLC Coupe, feature this sloping roof design. The upcoming Tata Curvv will also boast this coupe-style rear end. Five-spoke turbine-style alloy wheels can also be noted on the side profile.
Mahindra XUV.e9 Interior
Although these spy pictures do not show the interior of the XUV.e9, it has been noted from the previous pictures that it will get the same interior as the Mahindra XUV.e8. The list of features includes two massive 10.25-inch touchscreens which will be right next to each other. Additionally, the XUV.e9 will come with a gloss black finish for the lower center console, touch-sensitive buttons for climate control and other functions, and a drive mode selector. The interior will use premium materials and will most likely look upscale.
Mahindra XUV.e9 Powertrain Options
As of yet, the exact powertrain specifications for the upcoming Mahindra XUV.e9 have not been revealed. However, it has been confirmed that its sibling, the Mahindra XUV.e8, will get an 80 kWh battery pack and all-wheel-drive configuration with a two-motor setup. Most likely, the XUV.e9 will also get this exact same setup. As per the reports, this powertrain will be able to generate a maximum power of 230 PS and 350 Nm. The XUV.e9 will become the most expensive vehicle in the XUV lineup and is expected to go on sale by 2025. Once launched, it will compete with the Harrier EV, Curvv EV, and the Hyundai Creta EV along with Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV.
