Creating outer space puppets can be a creative and educational activity that is engaging, fun, and easy. This activity is flexible and can be used to teach about space and the solar system or it can encourage creativity with fun stories about aliens and spaceships! Kids can make this art project individually or in groups to create a story together! This art activity requires common school art supplies and about 30 minutes.

This craft is easy to adjust for the situation by changing what puppets the kids are making. For a fun and easy art activity, ask the kids to make a story about space then make the puppets to tell their story. You can even turn this into a writing activity and practice writing by writing their story. To make a science activity, begin by teaching about something space related. Supplies Needed for Space Puppet art
Steps to make outer space puppets
First: Create a background
Using the black construction paper draw stars, a moon, and other space things with a white crayon to create the background for the puppets. You can make this more fun by using paint, or other art projects for a background. For a group project make you can create one big background for the puppets!

Next: draw the puppets
After the background has been made, create some puppets by drawing on colored paper. Some puppets you could make are planets, stars, comets, aliens, spaceships, rockets, and more! Make a rocket to fly through your solar system with this cardboard tube rocket!
Then: Cut out the puppets
We are almost done! Now we need to cut out our puppets from the paper. If you want you can also assemble your puppets with multiple parts and different colored paper. Make as many puppets as you would like!
Finally: Glue the puppets to the sticks
The last step to make your outer space puppet art activity is to glue your puppets to popsicle sticks. Then you are all done! You can create a show with the puppets and have show and tell, or use the puppets to learn about how the earth spins around the sun and the moon spins around the earth!
