Steps in making Mozzarella Cheese Bites recipe

Step 1

Shred cheese.  Using your hands, make bite-sized balls of cheese.  Pressing the cheese together in your hands will help it form into a ball.

Step 2

In a small bowl, beat the egg.  Dip cheese balls into the egg mixture, coating evenly.  Allow excess egg to drip off.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, add bread crumbs.  Roll egg-dipped cheese balls into the Panko bread crumbs, coating evenly.

Step 4

Repeat the egg and bread crumb dipping to coat a second time.

Step 5

Place on a lined baking sheet and freeze for 2 hours.  Don’t skip this! It allows the cheese to harden so it doesn’t ooze out when you fry it.

Step 6

Heat oil in a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat.  Working in small batches, fry the cheese balls for approximately 1 minute then flip and cook another minute to a minute and a half.

Step 7

Remove cooked cheese balls to a paper towel-lined plate and serve immediately.
