  4. Only Hawaii and Southern Florida have a tropical climate in the United States.
  5. Hawaii has 9 national parks, including the Pearl Harbor National Memorial in Honolulu, the island of Oahu.
  6. The main islands the visit are Kaua’i, O’ahu, Moloka’i, Lana’i, Maui, and the island of Hawaii, each with different sights and activities.

  1. Hawaii has its own timezone (Hawaiian Standard Time) and doesn’t have daylight savings time.
  2. Mauna kea is a dormant volcano, 13, 803 ft above sea level, making it the tallest mountain in the 50th state.
  3. Mount Haleakalã is the largest dormant volcano in the world; the most recent eruptions occured between 1480 and 1600.
  4. Hawaii has five active volcanoes. Four are located on Big Island, the other is located on Maui, and there is also a sixth active volcano still submerged underwater.
  5. Mount Everest is the tallest mountain above sea level, but from base to summit, the tallest mountain is Mauna Kea in Hawaii.
  6. Hawaii has almost endemic species of plants and animals.
