Finally, after months of anticipation, Force Motors has revealed the new Gurkha five-door in India. The company, along with the reveal of the new model, has also revealed the updated Gurkha three-door. The company has now also commenced the bookings for the Gurkha five-door. Interested customers can reserve this model with a booking amount of Rs. 25,000.
The official launch and price reveal of the Force Gurkha five-door will take place on May 2. Most likely, the deliveries of the new Gurkha five-door will start halfway through May. Earlier today, the official brochure of the Gurkha was leaked online. The company has given both the Gurkha five-door and three-door a few minor updates.
2024 Force Gurkha five-door
The Force Gurkha five-door is the more practical, family-oriented lifestyle off-roader. This SUV has been launched to lure in more family-focused off-roading adventure enthusiasts. The three-door model, although very capable, does not have much of a presence in the country.
Its main competitor, Mahindra Thar, has been consistently outselling it. Now, with the launch of the Thar five-door, Force Motors is taking a jump ahead of Mahindra.
Currently, Mahindra is still preparing to launch the Thar five-door in India. Most likely, it will be launched by August 15 of this year. Till then, the Gurkha five-door will mainly compete with the Thar three-door and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
Design details
In terms of design, Force Motors has not changed much on the Gurkha five-door model. It still gets the same front-end design as the three-door model. This includes the same grille with Gurkha lettering, circular LED headlights with LED DRLs. The front bumper, snorkel, and all the other elements have all been retained.
The side profile also remains the same. It continues to get the black cladding on its wide fender flares and on the doors. The main highlight of the side profile will be the new additional doors in the middle. It will also be offered with a set of 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The roof will come with a carrier, and the rear will get an integrated metal staircase. The Gurkha five-door will also get the same rear end as the three-door model. As part of the accessories package, the SUV will also be offered with a front windscreen bar as well.
Interior updates
On the side, the SUV will continue to use hard plastics in a lot of places. However, it will be getting a few new updates. The first will be the addition of a brand new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. It will get connectivity features such as Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
The Gurkha five-door will also get a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, electronic 4-Wheel selector, and a manual air conditioning system. Apart from this, the middle row will get a bench-type seat, and the last row will get captain’s chairs.
Gurkha five-door: Powertrain
The company has ditched the old 2.6-litre diesel motor and will now come with an updated motor. It will now generate 140 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque. It will come mated with only a 5-speed manual transmission. All of the off-roading equipment has also been retained from the three-door model.
