The master’s degree program in Curatorial Practice (MACP) at the School of Visual Arts in New York City is pleased to announce its special events for fall/winter 2024. All events are online and free to the public. Learn more about our guest speakers.

The Curatorial Roundtable

Hosted by Steven Henry Madoff, Founding Chair of MACP, the Curatorial Round Table is a forum for curators from around the world to discuss exhibitions that have been transformative in their careers.

  • October 2, 9am (EDT)
    Katerina Gregos, Artistic Director of the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens, will focus on democracy, economy, ecology, and other global issues in recent exhibitions.
  • October 9, 5pm (EDT)
    Daisy Nam, Director of CCA Wattis Institute, San Francisco, will highlight her work at Ballroom Marfa, Harvard and Columbia Universities, and at the Wattis.
  • October 16, 9am (EDT)
    Hou Hanru, former Artistic Director of MAXXI, Rome, will discuss his influential career and past biennales.

The Artists Roundtable

Hosted by Kate Fowle, curatorial senior director of Hauser & Wirth and MACP faculty member, the Artists Roundtable features leading international artists talking about their curatorial experiences.

    Edgar Arcenaux’s (Los Angeles) multidisciplinary works examine points of contact between implausible relations.
  • November 5, 5pm (EST)
    Angel Otero (New York/Puerto Rico) creates abstract works centered on memory, identity, and lived experience.
  • November 12, 5pm (EST)
    Suchitra Mattai (Los Angeles), an American artist of Indo-Caribbean descent, sheds light on untold histories.
  • November 19, 5pm (EST)
    Jesse Krimes (Philadelphia) tackles themes of power and justice in his multimedia projects.
  • November 26, 5pm (EST)
    Kambui Olujimi’s (New York) multidisciplinary practice challenges established modes of thinking that function as inevitabilities.
  • December 3, 5pm (EST)
    Minerva Cuevas (Mexico City) uses research-based projects explore notions of civilization and progress.
  • December 10, 9am (EST)
    Julianknxx’s (London) works extend into performance, film, music, and sculpture.
