Neotek Lighting Incorporated, a 40-year-old commercial lighting manufacturer, won this year’s Industry Progress Award for its Pulsed Xenon Luminaires for agriculture.
The award was presented at the Illuminating Engineering Society’s meeting in New York City at the 51st Annual IES Illumination Awards Gala, held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square Hotel. The annual award is given to companies that advance the art and science of illumination with unique and significant advancements.
The award was given to Neotek Lighting for its patented Pulsed Xenon Lighting (PXL), which provides full spectrum light, mimicking sunlight, for the greenhouse industry. The significant energy savings of Pulsed Xenon Lighting contribute to sustainable technology. With minimal wattage, the fixture produces intense pulses of full-spectrum light that penetrates the plant leaf surface. This results in sturdier plants at a fraction of the energy costs of typical horticulture supplemental lighting.
“We are extremely proud to have been recognized by the Illuminating Engineering Society for our new, patented technology of the Pulsed Xenon Luminaires,’ says Craig Satterfield, CEO of Neotek Lighting, “We are excited to receive this prestigious award from this well-recognized professional organization.”
Neotek Lighting, Inc. has designed several product lines of fixtures for use in the demanding horticulture environment. The UL certification process requires extensive testing and inspection to meet rigorous standards for use in agricultural environments. The company obtained UL8800 certification for the Firefly-One, LLC line of fixtures on May 20, 2024, and continues to design fixtures to meet specific horticultural needs.
