5 Plant Varieties Competing to Win the FleuroStar Contest

For the 2024 FleuroStar Contest from Fleuroslsect, five companies have submitted varieties for consideration. The selection with the “highest visual impact at the point of sale” will be recognized as the ‘Winner with the Wow Factor’ during the upcoming FleuroStar Award Ceremony held on the evening of Thursday, June 13, at the partnered FlowerTrials location of Selecta one and Evanthia located in the Westland region of The Netherlands. 

The five varieties under consideration for the ‘Winner with the Wow Factor’ award are as follows:

The Dalina Maxi Starburst Pink from Florensis presents a vibrant pink shade on its anemone-shaped flowers. A standout in appearance, this Dahlia coccinea variety is sure to generate sales from looks alone. Additionally, the Dalina Maxi Starburst Pink pairs well with other flower colors and contrasts well with the prominence of green plating in gardens.

Buyers should be wary of the dual threat conveyed by the name of this new variety. This variety works well as a placement for beddings, containers, and hanging baskets, where its color retains its shine throughout the seasons.

The FlueroStar contest is annually held during Week 24 of FlowerTrials, with the competing varieties entered by companies involved and displayed across eight contest locations. An independent panel with representatives from across the industry in the fields of marketing, journalism, production, and retail, will choose the ‘Winner with the Wow Factor’.
