The New Swift is launching tomorrow: Here’s all you need to know about its design, features, engine and performance, safety and expected pricing
The entire country is buzzing with excitement for the launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift. This new iteration will be the fourth-generation model and will boast a comprehensive exterior and interior re-design. Today, we are going to tell you about all the changes that we will be seeing on the all-new, 2024 Swift. Make sure you read till the end because there is a lot to unwrap.
2024 Swift Platform and Dimensions: Longer and Taller
Before anything else, we will start with the platform and dimensions of the new 2024 Swift. The upcoming Swift, like the outgoing model, is based on the same HEARTECT platform. The new Swift will now be 15 mm longer, 40 mm narrower, and it will also become 30 mm taller. However, the wheelbase stays the same at 2,450 mm.
Exterior Design
Front End
In terms of design highlights, let’s talk about the front end design of the new Swift. For the 2024 model, the company has given it an all-new front fascia. The main highlight is the addition of a new front grille. This time around, it gets a large honeycomb pattern finished in gloss black.
Apart from this, there is an addition of brand-new and sleeker-looking headlights. These lights on the top-spec model will get a single projector headlight setup with L-shaped LED DRLs. On the higher-spec variants, it will get LED lights. However, the lower-spec variants get a halogen setup.
Additionally, on the lower variants, LED DRLs will be replaced by L-shaped chrome garnishes. Another new highlight of the front of the new Swift will be the positioning of the Suzuki logo. Unlike the outgoing model, it will be placed on top of the grille rather than being on the grille itself. Top-spec variants will also get LED fog lights, which the lower-spec variants will miss out on. The car will also get an all-new bonnet as well, which gives birth to a new body line.
Side Profile
Speaking of the above-mentioned new body line, this will be a new, stronger shoulder line. It will run throughout the exterior of the Swift, spanning from one side of the bonnet, running across the car, and going to the other side.
Apart from this, it will also get blacked-out A, B, and C pillars. This will be offered by the company starting from the VXI variant. The base LXI variant will get body-colored pillars. Another new design element of the new Swift is the addition of more traditional-style rear door handles. The C-pillar/door-mounted handles have been ditched by Maruti Suzuki.
In addition to the new style of door handles, the 2024 Swift will also come with a set of brand-new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. These wheels will be only offered with the top-spec ZXI+ variant. The ZXI variant will get the same design but will be finished in a monotone silver color.
The mid-spec VXI and VXI+ variants will be offered with 14-inch steel wheels. These four-bolt steel wheels will be finished in matte black color on the mid-spec variants. And on the lower LXI variant, they will be finished in silver color.
Rear End
Coming to the rear end, the new Swift will get a brand-new design at the rear as well. It will come equipped with new LED taillights which will get a clear lens that offers a much more premium appearance. They will also get new C-Shaped internals which will add to the new look of the Swift.
The rear bumper has also been completely redesigned. This time around, the rear reverse camera will be fitted on the boot lid instead of the bumper. Additionally, the Swift will also come equipped with four parking sensors. The camera will be only offered on the top-spec variants. However, the sensors will be offered from the VXI variant.
2024 Swift Variants and Colors
Talking about the variants, the new 2024 Swift will be offered in five variants. These will be the LXI, VXI, VXI+, ZXI, and ZXI+ variants. The VXI+ variant is an all-new addition, and many believe that it could become the most popular and value-for-money variant in the new Maruti Suzuki Swift lineup.
As for the color choices, the new Swift will be offered in a variety of different colors. Mono-tone colors for the new Swift will include Frontier Blue Pearl Metallic, Cool Yellow Metallic, and Burning Red Pearl Metallic. Here are the Suzuki Swift’s expected colours
There will also be Super Black Pearl, Star Silver Metallic, Flame Orange Pearl Metallic, Caravan Ivory Pearl Metallic, Pure White Pearl, and Premium Silver Metallic. Additionally, dual-tone paint schemes will include blue with a black roof, red with a black roof, yellow with a black roof, and white with a black roof.

Now coming to the interior updates of the new Swift. The 2024 Swift will get an all-new interior design which is very similar to the Baleno, Brezza, and Fronx. It will be finished in an all-black color scheme with brushed silver accents on the top-spec variants.
The main highlight will be the addition of the new 9-inch Smartplay Pro infotainment screen. It will be offered with connectivity features like Android Auto and Apple Carplay. It will also offer Bluetooth connectivity and navigation. The car also gets Arkamys speaker setup.

This particular 9-inch touchscreen will be only offered with the top-spec ZXI and ZXI+ variants. On the other hand, the middle-spec variants will come equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen. The LXI variant will not get any screen or speakers.
Other features of the new Swift on the top-spec variant will include a wireless charger, USB C ports, push-button start and stop, and electronically foldable ORVMs. The automatic climate control system will be standard across all variants of the new Swift.
2024 Swift Safety Features – 4 Stars in JNCAP
The seats will get new side bolsters and will now be more supportive. It will most likely also come standard with 6 airbags. Other safety features might include ABS, EBD, and ESC. It could also come with brake assist as well. The international model also gets ADAS but it will not be offered in India. The Japanese NCAP has given the new Swift an impressive rating of 4 stars.
2024 Swift Engine and Powertrain
The main highlight of the new Swift will be its brand-new power plant. The 2024 Swift will come equipped with a Z12E 3-cylinder petrol engine. This motor will also get a 12V mild hybrid system. The new Z-Series engine will replace the outgoing model’s time-tested 1.2-litre K-Series engine.
This newly developed engine will produce a maximum power of 82 bhp and 112 Nm of torque. It is down on power 8 bhp and 1 Nm of torque. However, there’s a good reason for its sacrifice. More on that ahead. The 2024 Swift will come mated with a 5-speed manual transmission and most likely a 5-speed AMT.
Expected pricing?
As for the sacrifice of power being a good thing, the new Swift will now offer a mileage of 25.72 kmpl. This is a significantly impressive improvement over the current model’s 22.38 kmpl. The total increase is about 15 percent. The company has currently opened bookings for the model at Rs 11,000. As for the pricing, expect a slight premium over the outgoing model’s Rs 6.24-9.28 lakh price band.
