We all love black color on our cars, and car manufacturers have also realized this. They introduced special editions of their existing models in black shades. Most of these cars are mechanically the same; it is only a cosmetic update to attract more buyers. Tata was probably the first manufacturer to do so, and later many others followed. Here we have a list of 12 Black Edition SUVs that are currently available for sale in the Indian market.
Tata
Nexon & Nexon EV
The sub-4 meter SUV from the Indian manufacturer is extremely popular among buyers. It is the only SUV in the segment that is offered with petrol, diesel, and as an EV. Both the ICE and EV versions of the Nexon received an update last year, and we drove the SUV too. Soon after the launch, Tata launched the Dark Edition versions of the Nexon and Nexon EV SUVs. The exterior is completely blacked out, and all the chrome elements are replaced with gloss black trims.
Harrier
The Harrier also received an update last year. Tata offers the Harrier in a black shade, which the manufacturer calls Dark Edition. Just like the Nexon, the Harrier also gets all the chrome elements blacked out. Even the interior gets a dark treatment to go with the overall theme. The SUV is available with a 2.0-liter diesel engine only.
Safari
The elder sibling or the seven-seater version of the Harrier, known as Safari, also received a facelift last year. The Safari Dark Edition also gets all-black interiors with a Dark Edition badge on the fenders, black roof lining, upholstery, and door pads.
MG
Gloster
MG’s flagship SUV in the Indian market, Gloster, is available in an all-black theme. MG calls it the Blackstorm edition. We see an all-black exterior with red accents at places like the front skid plate, ORVMs, and red brake calipers. Mechanically, the SUV remains the same. The SUV is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine.
Astor
The entry-level SUV from MG was the first car in the segment to come with Level 1 ADAS features. MG launched a Blackstorm edition of the Astor too. The SUV gets an all-black paint job with red accents, and a similar theme is seen in the cabin too. Astor is available with two petrol engine options only.
Hector
The Hector Blackstorm was launched in the market just a few days ago. The SUV carries the brand’s all-black theme nicely broken by red accents at places. The interior upholstery is all finished in black, and we see red stitching, red ambient lights in the SUV. The SUV is available with both petrol and diesel engine options.
Jeep
Compass Night Eagle
Jeep launched the limited edition Night Eagle Version of the Compass recently. Jeep is offering a stealthy black shade to the SUV both on the outside and inside. However, the Night Eagle Edition is slightly different from others in the segment. This Limited Edition variant is not just offered in Black but also in shades of Red and White. The Night Eagle Edition is available only with the diesel variant, which uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine.
Nissan
Magnite – Kuro Edition
Kuro Edition was Nissan’s take on the black shade. They launched the Kuro Edition Magnite in an all-black shade. Even the alloy wheels are blacked out, and the calipers are finished in Red for a sporty touch. Just like the exterior, the interior of this SUV has also been blacked out. Magnite Kuro is offered with both 1.0-liter NA and 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine options.
Renault
Kiger – Urban Night Edition
Renault Urban Night edition comes with a blacked-out exterior, however, it retains the chrome garnish on the front grille. Kiger Urban Night edition is priced between Rs 8.95 lakh-11.15 lakh. The urban night edition is available with both petrol engine options. The SUV does offer more features like auto-dimming IRVMs and so on.
Hyundai
Venue Knight Edition
Hyundai launched the Knight Edition variant of Venue in the market last year. It gets an all-black exterior with brass-colored inserts on the front and rear bumper, dark chrome front grille, blacked-out alloy wheels with red calipers, black-colored roof rails with brass-colored inserts, and so on. Just like the Jeep, Hyundai offering the Knight Edition is our monotone and one dual-tone choices: Abyss Black, Atlas White, Titan Gray, Fiery Red, and Fiery Red with Abyss Black.
